Two flames, one shared light.

In a unity candle ceremony, two individual candles are used to light one central flame. The two smaller flames represent your separate lives; the central candle represents the future you are choosing to create together.

Although candlelight has held spiritual and ceremonial meaning for centuries, the unity candle itself is a more recent wedding tradition, becoming popular during the 20th century.

You may leave the individual candles burning to show that love brings two people together without diminishing who they are. Parents, children or other family members can also light candles, making this especially meaningful for blended families.

I will help you choose the people, music and words that transform the lighting of the candle into a warm, romantic pause within your ceremony.
